Liverpool Faces Crushing Defeat Against Brentford
Jurgen Klopp’s squad experienced annihilation 1-3 against Brentford last night, Monday 2 January at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Brentford moved up to seventh in the Premier League – just one place and two points behind Liverpool – thanks to goals from Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo and an own goal by Ibrahima Konate.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored Liverpool’s only goal. This was the Bees’ first win against the Reds in 84 years.
Klopp has criticised referee Stuart Attwell for his handling of the match. In scoring Brentford’s third goal. Mbeumo knocked Konate off of the ball, in what Klopp and other Liverpool players viewed as a foul.
He also accused Attwell and the other officials of failing to clamp down on what he views as the Bees’ foul play during attacking set-pieces.
